Help the United Way help prepare kids for kindergarten!

From Alignment Nashville:

Alignment Nashville's Pre-K Committee recommends six Essential Literature books for kids entering kindergarten.

"The Napping House" by Audrey Wood
"No, David!" by David Shannon
"Ten Black Dots" by Donald Crews
"Big Red Barn" by Margaret Wise Brown
"Jamberry" by Bruce Degen
"Have You Seen My Cat" by Eric Carle

Alignment Nashville's Pre-K Committee has set a goal to have all pre-school children read the Essential Literature books.

As their first teacher, parents and caregivers play a crucial role in preparing children for kindergarten; 50% of Tennessee's children arecared for by family, friends and neighbors, rather than in a formal pre-K classroom. United Way of Metropolitan Nashville is working to bring education tools to these important first teachers.
