Magazine for Girls

If you're looking for an alternative to Seventeen Magazine (and the not-necessarily-so-healthy messages they send about body image, fashion, sex, and relationships), I just discovered a magazine that you and your girls might enjoy.

Kiki describes themselves as, "a magazine for girls who love life, appreciate creativity, and recognize good ideas. A Kiki reader thinks for herself, has her own look, and is on her way to being a confident, strong, and smart young woman. She's a girl with style and substance!"

I picked up a sample magazine last fall, and I was totally impressed. It has a bright and classy. The articles are culturally relevant and age-appropriate. They have frugal fashion ideas, they honor diversity, and they encourage girls to be smart.

Check them out - and if you know of other great magazines for tweens and teens, we'd love to hear about them!
